Known & Sewn
“Where every stitch tells a story.”
Project Overview
Known & Sewn is our year-long community sewing project exploring the quiet intimacies of everyday life. Inspired by the exhibition Still Lives: Embroidered Intimacies from Around the World, this project invites participants to slow down, notice the beauty in ordinary gestures, and connect through the shared rhythm of making.
Through thread and fabric, participants capture domestic moments—gestures, glances, shared meals and more—and transform them into embroidered pieces that reflect the textures, routines, and stories of their daily lives.
Weekly drop-in workshops will be held on Friday mornings, welcoming stitchers of all levels. Participants are also encouraged to continue their work at home or in other community settings.
In 2027, the collective work will be brought together in a community exhibition here at ACEarts, also titled Known & Sewn, celebrating these stitched stories as a portrait of shared experience and connection.
